Consumer Building Guide NSW- Checklist

Before You Sign the Contract check:

Whether or not your builder or tradesperson has a contractor licence with NSW Fair Trading,

Is the licence relative to what you want to be done?

Do the licence and contract reflect the same name and number?

Is the work outlined in the contract, plans and specifications?

Does the contract clearly state a  price or that the price is not known?

If the contract price is variable is there a warning or explanation?

If the contract is over $20K does it state the cooling period? ,

Is the deposit 10% for work up to  $20K or  5%  for work over $20K?

Do you understand the variation procedure?

Do you need council approval or otherwise?

If the work is over $20K do you have a Home Warranty Policy? ,

Did you receive a copy of the Consumer Building Guide?.
