Alucobond Removal & Replacement 1 of 3

On 8/8/2022 at the base of a building in Ashfield Sydney NSW Australia workers started at the bottom part of an apartment building [peoples homes]removing the alucobond panels  & I started taking photographs.

With the recent twenty-three-storey Grenfell Tower apartment building fire in 2017, some seventy-two humans perished. Humans lost the homes they cherished. Ensuring a building is built as safely as possible for its occupants and endeavouring to save lives is very important. You can ask google why it burnt so quickly. Perhaps, if the Grenfell Tower had a fireproof elevator, the building’s evacuation procedure included its use and the occupants had been trained to use both the fire stairs and the elevator to evacuate the building, lives would have been saved. There should be a study on the Grenfell Tower regarding a fireproof elevator, changes to the building’s evacuation procedure, and training the occupants to use the fire stairs and the elevator to evacuate the building during the fire incident, which would have saved human lives.

In November 2014, there was a fire at the Lacrosse apartment building in  Melbourne Victoria Australia. The apartment building’s external cladding was constructed from aluminium composite panels, with a polyethylene core (“ACPs”). Apparently, a lit cigarette butt discarded on a balcony ignited the panels. Consequently, the fire spread incredibly quickly through the ACPs, resulting in significant damage to the building. Polyethylene or polythene  is the most commonly produced and utilised plastic.

The existence of aluminium composite panels on buildings is a big worldwide problem. E.g. people have perished, some property has been damaged & Professional Indemnity Insurance policy yearly fees went through the roof. Back in Ashfield, the workers utilising a scissor lift removed the aluminium composite panels and installed aluminium panels called ”ALUTIL”.
