Building Green Homes in Glasgow

Contemporary and Eco

Friends, in 2009 my chosen blog designer provided a game plan and a decent upfront fee. After expending AUD$, years go by so quickly, and a new blog designer disagrees thus I spent more AUD $ upfront in 2017.

Time rolls on and the blogs are judged wrong by the powerhouse. So be it, the story of my life! Simon says you must not piggyback an internet video.

As a result, today 7 November 2022 I declare the video is deleted or perhaps the video was deleted previously from this blog post. The information, however, is current and there are so many comments so I will not delete the post.

Regardless of the subject of the blog is liked. Type ‘  Contemporary eco-friendly self-build, Glasgow  ‘  or a relevant Boolean term into ‘YouTube’ or your selected search engine to find the relevant information. Blog on and stay safe.

In 2009 Don and Lorna have built a contemporary-style eco-home in suburban Glasgow that is an impressive mix of modern design and sustainable construction principles. The couple bought a run-down timber frame bungalow with a view to replacing it with something more suited to the elevated site, which enjoys views of the city to the south and hills to the north. The result is a fine example of how site constraints can bring out the best in-house design.

Upside Down Approach

Don and Lorna decided on an upside-down approach to their living accommodation to make the most of the views and built a semi-basement garage to maximise the site’s potential.

Insulated Concrete

The house is built from Insulated Concrete Formwork resulting in impressive energy efficiency (U-values of just 0.19) and includes an air-source heat pump. As a result, their bills are almost half of what they were in their old home, despite the new home being 30% bigger. It cost £333000 (£1486/m2) to build and took 11 months. [image via google]
