Friends, in 2009 my chosen blog designer provided a game plan and a decent upfront fee. After expending AUD$, years go by so quickly, and a new blog designer disagrees thus I spent more AUD $ upfront in 2017.

The presentation is about a  cost-effective, eco-friendly green home brought to you by principals Lawrence Scarpa and Angela Brooks called the Solar Umbrella Home. The inspiration was Paul Rudolph’s Umbrella House of 1953.

The development is a twenty-first-century piece of architecture with sustainability as an integral part of it with top priority.

This was achieved in the design stage featuring-  orientation,  cross ventilation, shading of southern windows and recycled finishes.

The solar canopy strategy provides thermal protection in climates with intense exposures, using photovoltaic panels to provide one hundred per cent of the home’s energy needs.

As well as the photovoltaic solar panel array, the home’s green aspects include solar hydronic heating panels, a storm-water retention system, and an airy, open design, with environmentally sound materials throughout. Many of the building materials’ finishes are highly unconventional, eco-friendly and cost-effective which are traditionally hidden from view and repositioned as unusual and aesthetically appealing design elements.
