Today is the official publish day of this blog i.e. 4/06/2026. Apologies for the delay.

In any case, in May and June 2025, I went back to the Strathfield property where I have been carrying out restoration work since 1998. Folks, that’s twenty-eight years.

The  25- year-old gate, made of western red-cedar had chronic wet rot and many repairs over the years gone by. The so-called galvanised hinges rusted away. So, the owner had a gate custom-made replacement.

The photograph above is of the old gate. I was delegated to install the new one. I had to select appropriate galvanised hardware.  Also, I supplied and installed a door closer because it is a gate sectioning off a swimming pool, and pool safety is required to protect the kids.
