Consumer Building Guide NSW- Contract Contents, The parties
The parties does not mean birthday parties or housewarming parties. The contract between a builder and a homeowner must show the parties involved within the contract, i.e. :
1. The name of the owner (s).
2. The name of the builder or tradesperson and their license number
Note:
The name and number listed on the builder or tradesperson’s license should be exactly the same as on the contract.
If it is not the same you should contact the licensee for clarification before you sign the contract.
A license in the name of an individual does not permit the individual’s company to make the contract, even if the individual is a director of the company.
If the company is making the contract, the company needs to be licensed in the company name.
You should always use a licensed builder, company, or tradesperson. Do an online license check with your government agency.
