Friends, in 2009 my chosen blog designer provided a game plan and a decent upfront fee. After expending AUD$, years go by so quickly, and a new blog designer disagrees thus I spent more AUD $ upfront in 2017.

The video visits a solar home built by engineer, Jon Lyle and their family. This house was built from scratch with one thing in mind…Sustainability.

The footings are rammed earth walls.  Rammed-earth walls are constructed by ramming an aggregate mixture, including gravel, sand, silt and clay, between flat panels, frames or formwork). It is an on-site construction method, and removing the formwork reveals the rammed-earth wall. Traditionally, a wooden pole was used to ram and compress the earth mixture.

The house faces due south. The concrete walls and tiled floor store heat during the day and release heat into the house during the night.

The house is off the electrical grid and serviced by solar panels.
