Heritage Style Restoration in Strathfield 9
A particular part of the maintenance work last year was on one of the two shoulders of the main gates.
The treated pine curved top rail was rotten to the core.
So I utilised a piece of old clear American Oregon from my personal stock of timber for recycling purposes. The section size was 300 mm by 72 mm by a good length.
I carved out of the old piece of tree, with a 240 mm Makita electric saw, the piece I needed. Here are the offcuts:


I then, in turn, planed, sanded and painted the piece to make it look like this:
