Heritage Style Restoration in Strathfield 11
Well back to Strathfield this last month in October 2019, since 1998 I have carried out a lot of maintenance work there at the house in Strathfield. Wood rots and needs to be mended with tender loving care, if not replaced. In early October 2019, I returned to Strathfield to undertake yet again the massive task of restorative work on the treated pine timber fence that I built in 2008 and it was again heartbreaking. Nine panels of the fence were affected to varying degrees by wood rot and with two and months of dedication, patience and hard work it was all done and ready for decorative painting. Bottom rails cut/carved on site! 19-Year-old western red cedar gates are rotting again and we had to patch holes. In 2002 I built the deck at the rear with fancy western red cedar balusters. Unfortunately, some balusters and bottom rails were rotting. I had to jigsaw cut new balusters [20 years ago I made the stencil and yes I still have it]. Luckily, I still have the template, otherwise, I’d be making another template. Also, brass handle circlips had rusted out and I had to replace those as well. Here are some during photos:
