Home Improvement With Wooden Ceilings 2

Friends of this blog site started commenting on the 6th of December 2022. Today, the 26th of December 2022 is the official day of the blog’s publishment.

The sloping wooden ceiling had not been painted for some twenty years and was well overdue for embellishment. The wooden ceiling is in the rear of the house in Haberfield NSW Australia in what was originally an open verandah but previous owners had enclosed it. The wooden ceiling was originally finished back in 1917 with some beeswax finish. The colour for the last twenty years was ”Indian Red” as you can see in this photograph adjacent. The lining boards are tongue and groove but the paint had cracked, the timber lining boards had suffered shrinkage and dust was falling down in between the cracks.

The designated painter covered up and masked, and sanded down the paint but I filled the gaps with acrylic gap filler. Some 3 tubes of gap filler were used up. There it in the next photograph adjacent with the chosen colour being beige calm.
