Restoration of Steps by Custom Home Builder

In the 1970s a traditional circa 100-year-old Federation home in Coogee Sydney Australia was “renovated”.

The staircase to the front door was a series of 11 no. Carrera marble steps and English glazed ceramic riser tiles. The house is close to the Pacific Ocean and the sea salts had taken their toll on the steps.

Unfortunately, they were replaced with the fad of the era – tiles.

Your friendly Custom Home Builder was commissioned to restore the 11 steps.

Together with the property owner a solution was designed and constructed.

Of course the ” fad of the era tiles” was removed.

A manufacturer was engaged to produce terrazzo steps of a comfortable width to suit a human foot, with a bullnose edge out of white Carrera marble chips held together with coloured cement.

Teapot brown English glazed tiles were purchased locally.

Experienced and competent tradesmen installed both items.
