Building Performance Auditors
Home Auditors
Friends, in 2009 my chosen blog designer provided a game plan and a decent upfront fee. After expending AUD$, years go by so quickly, and a new blog designer disagrees thus I spent more AUD $ upfront in 2017.
Time rolls on and the blogs are judged wrong by the powerhouse. So be it, the story of my life! Simon says you must not piggyback an internet video.
As a result, today 17 October 2022 I declare the video is deleted or perhaps the video was deleted previously from this blog post. The information however is current and there are so many comments so I will not delete the post.
Regardless the subject of the blog is liked. Type CBPCA Green Home – buildaroo.com or a relevant Boolean term into ‘YouTube’ or your selected search engine to find the relevant information. Blog on and stay safe.
CBPCA is a group of building performance contractors that audit homes.
Issues Addressed
Examples of issues addressed in the home audit include moulds growing on the walls, high utility bills, or strange smells in buildings. John says that the association is the general physician of the building industry; that’s a good use of figurative language!
Green Legislation
He then brings the interview to a more personal level as he gives us an example of green legislation at work in his own home, Sonoma county; 7 of 8 cities within this respective county have adopted green building ordinances that mandate auditors to visit homes and check if there are any energy inefficiencies. John then talks about the history of California’s Title 24 back in 1979 which established minimum energy usage standards (the first state to ever do so!) in the industry within various contexts including insulation, window quality, and lighting. Subsequent to this date, there have been continuous upgrades and tightening of the standards every 3 years by the energy and utility commission. In order to accommodate title 24, certified products are often used during construction like those that possess the EnergyStar seal amongst others, and John makes a note that one can only tell apart what is truly a legitimate third-party certification by being in the industry for a long time. He gives an example of one third-party certification that he considers greenwashing that all wood users should be aware of.
Greenwashing is disinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible public image.
